The students at SLHS are awesome. I teach 3 honors classes of Algebra I and 3 10th grade classes of Algebra I. So, I teach the highest performing students at our school and the lowest performing students in math at our school.
Many of my students are from poor families.
Also, many of them are from one parent or one guardian households. It is still early in the school year, but I am looking forward to see how far I can take them.
My Project
If you come into my classroom, you will see a television that is from the 90's! Hence, my television is over 20 years old! Close your eyes and try to envision what that looks like to a teenager today!
I am a math teacher.
One of the questions that I constantly hear from my students is "When will I ever use this?" Now, go back to that television you are envisioning in your mind earlier. Does it impress you? Do you think it would impress a teenager today?
Now, imagine the videos and resources that can be used to answer that age old question on a brand new flat screen! Who knows what theses videos and resources could spark in one of my students because of this resource - a future mathematician? an future engineer? I am excited about the possibilities.
