My Project

This project allows chemistry students to experience first hand chemical reaction kinetics based on reactant concentrations. They will modify known concentrations of reactants to produce the desired time the reaction will occur.

This classic "Iodine Clock" experiment is a jaw dropper in the chemistry lab.

When the two clear solutions combine, the reaction, a changes from a clear liquid to bluish, black opaque solution in an instant when the reaction starts. The time it takes between the mixing and the opaque liquid to appear is directly proportional to the concentrations of the two original liquids. Starting with the concentrated solutions the student will customize their desired reaction time by calculated dilutions
