Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We will use these binoculars, looking glass and compass to locate and observe birds, bugs and butterflies, while holding in mind a curiosity about the differences in the climate in our playground and the one found in the park. We want to know the specific elements and objects that create environments that attract such creatures.
We live in a very warm to hot city in the south, many of the 3, 4 and 5 year olds in my class have never ventured out of the city, thus, every Spring, we walk a few blocks beyond our playground to a nearby park with a wide variety of well established trees.
In this park, we experience the songs of birds, the hum of bugs and the flutter of butterflies that are not available to us in our playground.
From our observations we will describe what we see at the park that makes the birds, bugs, and butterflies want to live there.
