I teach in Dallas ISD. What I cherish most about our school is that ours is a real life Martin Luther King Jr. "I have a dream" community. We are Latinos, Blacks, and Whites, Indians, Arabs, Ghanians, Persians, Australians (to name a few), fanning the flame of trust and safety in the ordinary things we do for and with each other, in working together everyday, to best educate our youth. Although the challenges of modernity are evident in their daily lives, my students are motivated and clear about the value of their education which reflects in my classroom's daily attendance average of 96%. My students' parents are the landscapers, cashiers, cooks and janitors homemakers, doctors -you see being of service throughout the city. They are my students' main supporters and model an outstanding work ethic. I thank you for supporting me in making my classroom a well equipped place of academic growth and emotional learning.
