Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Some students were not made to sit still, and I encourage that. My students are in kindergarten and have some special needs. We are located in an urban area students all receive free breakfast and lunch.

Every day we start off with our breakfast in the classroom followed by our morning circle time.

My students love to look at the weather and to see who is here, then talk about their nights. We are building a strong classroom environment one day at a time.

My students are hands on interested learners with a lot of energy to learn in all different ways throughout the day.

My Project

My students love to bounce around from center to center and want to learn in a variety of ways. One way they follow along with a video or song, but having the video to be able to play on our projector would make everything so much easier. I could use the videos that come with some of the phonics kits to create a full sensory feel to it.

Watching a video is great, but my students want to be hands on also.

Starting with this class in the middle of the year means there are no supplies. I would love to introduce the basics like crayons, markers, glue to have the students start creating hands on assignments based on what they are learning. Loving hands on work and being able to easily do it are two different things. Some of my students have difficulty holding a pencil properly. With the pencil grips students would be able to easily master holding pencils while they work.
