This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Everyone likes to feel special! A specialized library book collection is being curated at our school for our fifth grade students to help these students transition into more challenging reading material and older interest levels. Our next problem to solve is how to store and display this special collection of books!
As students progress in the fifth grade at our school, many students' reading motivation is decreasing and we want to change that!
Many students ask where the "middle school" books are. The rolling cart in this project will be used to house these books, along with existing carts. These carts will be housed in the adjacent library storage room and rolled out for each 5th grade class. Students will feel special as they get to help bring out the special 5th grade collection of books (they will still be able to check out books from the rest of the library too) and find books that may be too challenging for the younger students in the school. This project supports both reading motivation and challenging advanced students!
