My Project

This pandemic has been hard on my students and their families. More than half of my students come from low-income homes, but we are not a Title I school, and, as a result, we lack the resources and opportunities that many other schools have. Almost all of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch; often, those free meals are the only food they have. Although many of my students are deemed at-risk, they are trying very hard to learn, and at the same time, they are learning how to navigate being in school for the first time!

I recently noticed that many of my students do not know anything about personal hygiene.

When I tried to buy some toothbrushes, toothpaste and other hygiene items, I was shocked by the price of these items and quickly realized that I would need a second job to be able to afford the things that my kids need. So, I am asking you to donate and help buy my students the things they need to learn basic, healthy hygiene habits.

I feel like teaching my students some good hygiene will contribute to their overall physical and mental health. I know that when a student gets sick, it often causes them to miss school and then they fall behind in class. Also, sometimes a student with poor hygiene can become self-conscious or may be bullied. I want to prevent these bad things from happening to my awesome second graders.
