This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many of my students have limited resources at home to engage them in their learning. I try to provide multiple ways for them to access their learning by providing fun and interactive activities.
My school educated some of the poorest children in town, many of them living in poverty.
They often have many life occurrences that are interfering with their ability to learn at home and at school. They are happy kids, but sometimes life gets in the way. They need to have different ways of accessing the same material that is being taught in order to gain necessary skills.
My Project
These Hot Dot pens will be used individually and in small groups during centers. The students will work on blending, diagraphs and vocabulary. They will be used to help make learning more interactive for the students. The Hot Dot cards that will be purchased with the pens are also aligned with the new Common Core State Standards.
Technology, even small technology, makes learning more interactive.
My hope is that my students will be excited about their learning through the use of these pens. This will allow them to continue to make growth in the area of reading. More cards can be purchased later to further meet the needs of the students as they come.
