Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are typical kids. They love to laugh, dance, draw, and play. My school is a Title I school, which means all of the students who come to my classroom every day come from low income households.

Many of them are not physically, mentally, or emotionally prepared for learning every morning.

Many do not have working electricity or running water. Most do not have an adult at home checking their school bag every night and helping with homework.

I have the uphill challenge of not only teaching them academic subjects, but teaching them that they are safe and loved every day they are in my classroom.

My students need to be engaged, motivated, and supported to grow as independent and lifelong learners. I work tirelessly to meet the needs of my students' academic, social, and emotional needs.

My Project

Hot Dots are already a hit in my classroom. My students beg to be chosen to use them. We currently use Hot Dots during math centers, small group instruction, and peer tutoring. Students are required to solve the math problem on their white board, then check for accuracy and understanding using the Hot Dot pen.

Your generous donation will help support my students by giving them the opportunity to be independent thinkers and learners while getting immediate feedback on their understanding of the math concepts being taught.

Hot Dots provide a fun way to learn and reinforce skills! They are easy to use and provide my students with a chance to be responsible for their own learning.
