Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This is my second year teaching a horticulture class. We have a few raised planters. Received quiet a few seeds from Donor's Choose and a seed company. We've secured soil pretty cheap. But we need more planters!

I would love to get some elevated planters The higher elevation will help students that have a harder time gardening at ground level.

(Currently all are currently in the ground or raised). This will beautify the school, provide SEL enrichment with the students getting their hands in the dirt (soil), grow food and be around all the beauty in the garden.

I want to create a section for California-native plants that attract pollinators. For this we need the planters. The majority of my students have special needs and are title one, at risk students. I see this class as a way for them to connect to the ground and learn where food comes from, how to grow and harvest it, as well as recipes.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
