This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into the art room excited, ready to learn, and anticipating what masterpiece they will create that day. They are truly inspired by art, and in turn they inspire me.

I teach at a Title I school in Texas where 100 percent of our students receive free and reduced breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekends. Despite so many hardships, my students truly love to learn and are proud of their school. They deserve to have amazing art supplies!

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will be used for next school year in the art room. The modeling clay will provide students with the chance to learn the skill of sculpture and 3-D art making. Art students at the elementary grade levels aren't typically exposed to this material, it would be new and fun for them. They would be able to link what they are learning in math with three-dimensional shapes, to their art. I can already see the little lightbulbs going on when I ask them to mold a cylinder with their modeling clay!
