I teach in a Title I school in South Carolina. Many of my first graders come from low income families and rely on supplies from the teacher and school for support.
I have a classroom full of smart, energetic, and caring first graders.
Each day they come to school with bright smiles, ready to learn and spend time with friends.
We are a PBIS school and focus on celebrating students' good behavior. Despite many differences, we come together as a first grade family!
My Project
These fun prizes will be used to reward good behavior choices that students make each day. As other students see the exciting items in the class treasure box they will strive to make good choices as well.
Some of the prizes that motivate first grade students are stickers, slap bracelets, balloons, slime, and stretchy toys.
These prizes will hopefully cause a ripple effect of good behavior in the classroom. I hope to see students making positive behavior choices for themselves and spreading kindness to others.
As the behavior in the classroom improves the learning environment also improves. I will be able to focus more on teaching and making learning fun and engaging and spend less time addressing behavior concerns.
