Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Many students are experiencing poverty and related issues, yet they are engaged, curious, and excited about learning. They are a diverse group, representing many different cultures and languages. They love to read and are deserving of books that will feed their imaginations.
My Project
When students come in to the library, I want them to find the books they love. My 20 years as a librarian in eight different schools has helped me know the titles kids are always looking for. My library has had very few new books in the last 15 years, so I need to fill the shelves for our 800 students! Getting the books on this list will get characters like Fly Guy, Elephant and Piggie, and Dog Man into my students' hands, and start them on the road to a love of reading.
