My students are from a low-income, rural community in Northern Maine. Our small school is where students not only learn coursework, but also important skills for the real world. The students spend a portion of their day in my social studies classroom taking courses in world history, US history, civics, personal finance, and college and career planning.
My students love to be active learners who think, collaborate, analyze, and make connections from the past to current events.
I love that they are investing in their futures and challenge themselves in the classroom.
My Project
The National Honor Society is bestowed upon students who uphold the four pillars of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Students who are selected to receive this honor are well-rounded students who see the importance of our community and our school. The students work hard to help supply non-profits with money through fundraisers, harvest vegetables for our local food banks, do individual service projects, host Veterans Day ceremonies, and much more. They are also leaders who are held to a high standard to help bring a positive culture to our school.
Our students need help getting pins and stoles for their honors ceremony.
We are hoping to have this project funded to allow the students to be able to wear the stoles to events to show their dedication and accomplishments while at our school.
