This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
With this DonorsChoose project I hope to provide my students with organized access to all of their materials.
The bookshelves and cabinets will hold each student's bin that contains the therapy materials they use in their speech therapy sessions.
The storage drawers and bins will hold their IEP target worksheets and picture cards that are used to target their goals as well. The wall visuals and posters will help guide their learning and goals. The carpet will give us an additional space away from the table in the room for our creative and active speech therapy activities.
When it comes to making your classroom feel welcome, nothing beats positive communication combined with a feeling of belonging. I would like my students to embrace independence and ownership of their IEP goals and the materials they use to accomplish them!
My special education students face great adversity in all aspects of their lives and this motivates me as a Speech Therapist to provide them with a welcoming environment in every way!
