My Students

My students come from a variety of different backgrounds with 100% of the population receiving free breakfast and lunch each day. My classroom typically includes students who are struggling readers, English Language Learners, students with special needs and/or learning disabilities, and students who are on grade level, as well as students who excel in academics and need to be challenged.

One common factor though among all these various ability levels is that they all benefit from hands-on learning.

I would love to make my classroom a educational yet fun place to be!

My Project

Kindle Fires will be used in my classroom to support an app called Seesaw. Seesaw enables students to create an educational portfolio in which they can take pictures of their work and upload it to a private account for their their parents to see. This app provides a great way for parents to track their child's progress as well as learn all about their child's school day.

By having two Kindle Fires in my classroom, my students will be able to take full advantage of everything Seesaw has to offer.

My students will be so proud and excited to take a picture of their work and send it to their parents. My parents will be happy to see what their child is doing each day while they are at home or work. This is a perfect way to empower students and engage parents.

Also, the Seesaw app will help bridge the gap for non-English speakers. Through private teacher-parent communication, it automatically translates messages in any language. This would truly lessen the language barrier, making it easy to communicate and build connections with non-English speaking parents.

Having Kindle Fires would create a classroom where parents are more involved in their child's school day, where teachers can integrate technology, and where students can document and take pride in their work.
