Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Some students were not made to sit still, and I encourage that. My students are in kindergarten and have some special needs. We are located in an urban area. All students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Every day, we start off with our breakfast in the classroom, followed by our morning circle time.

My students love to look at the weather, see who is here, and then talk about their nights. We are building a strong classroom environment one day at a time. My students are hands-on, interested learners with a lot of energy to learn, in all different ways, throughout the day.

My Project

There is nothing better than a homemade gift from your child. In class we like to make homemade gifts for our parents during every holiday season. I would like to do something a little more fun and trending with my students this year.

Everyone is into bath bombs, candles and good smelling spraying mists and with Mother's and Father's day coming up I would like to get supplies into my room to create fun projects.

Using the candle making kit and oils we as a class and closely supervised to make good smelling candles. Some of my students have sensory issues and won't want to get their hands dirty with the bath bombs so I am requesting gloves they can use while making good smelling bath bombs.

Soap is a universal need in our lives, it would be fun if the students knew how to make it and got the opportunity to make it. They could use different scents and shapes to make it unique but they would be able to create their own.

In all it would be great to combine hands on learning, science and gift giving into fun lessons. I look forward to bringing these projects to life.
