My Students

I work with a group of amazing fifth graders in our schools dual immersion program. This program provides students with the opportunity to develop their language skills in both English and Spanish, and I am honored to be a part of their educational experience.

My students come from a variety of cultures and backgrounds, and each one of them has potential to do incredible things.

This is their last year in elementary school as a part of our dual immersion program. Soon they will be moving on to multiple classes and teachers in middle school. This will be a big change for them as they are preparing for more individual responsibility and new experiences in their educational landscape. Our classroom is a place where they learn to prepare for that experience and develop personal academic accountability.

My Project

I have noticed that many of the students in my classroom who have had to do home learning due to sickness, etc... don't have access to the same learning tools and resources that we have in class resulting in a lower quality learning experience when they aren't able to come to school.

Pandemic-impacted learning can be challenging for teachers, parents, and students however having manipulatives that students can use while learning or practicing educational skills at home will help ensure students have access to quality learning tools regardless of location.

Having enough math manipulatives for each student to be able to individually use and take between home and school would be so beneficial for the students in my classroom and open up opportunities for parent involvement, I thank you for being a part of that.
