Our school is in a high poverty area where students have grown up with many hardships. The majority of my students are Hispanic with English as their second language. About 98% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast.
My students come to my class wanting a safe environment from hardships they may be dealing with outside of school!
These fifth graders know, though, that my classroom is a safe place for them to be. Each one of them is a caring student who holds high values of respect and responsibility. All my students are very enthusiastic to learn and grow their minds for their futures! My goal is to continue giving my students this safe, comfortable learning environment to continue their learning.
This bookshelf will be a starting place for our growing library. Our current bookcases are falling apart even though I bought most of them at the beginning of the year. The one that is selected is strong and sturdy, which is meant for the classroom and for student use. It is big for the our class library.
My students are becoming better readers every day!
They need a place to find books. We do not have our own school library. I have worked on building a classroom library with books my students love. Now I need a place to keep these books safe. These bookcases will allow each of our books to have a home and last a long time.
