Holocaust Museum Trip #3

My students need two buses to take them to the Holocaust Museum in Houston, Texas.

I teach U.S. History at a small high school. At the high school level, students do not go on field trips unless they participate in a club or organization. Thus, most of the "regular" kids never visit a museum. I would like my students who might never get another opportunity to visit a museum to be able to do so with this trip.

I began taking students to the Holocaust Museum two years ago when my students commented about the Iranian president's statements that the Holocaust never happened. A student mentioned the Holocaust Museum, and the rest of the students wanted to visit the museum.

Spurred by my students, I decided to take them to the museum. We have a shortage of school buses, so we needed charter buses. Due to a lack of funds, I appealed to Donorschoose.org, and donors responded to our needs.

With your help, my students will culminate their study of World War II with a trip to the museum. The museum visit will make the Holocaust more of a "reality" rather than another event that students have to learn from a textbook. In the past, my students have left the museum filled with sadness and anger at the atrocities that the victims endured. Your contribution will help my students realize that intolerance and hatred of differences can lead to horrific events.
