My Project

This Spring, my 11th and 12th grade English students will be embarking upon a unit of study to uncover the history and legacy of the Holocaust. I firmly believe that this horrific time should not be forgotten and that the text Maus by Art Spiegelman is a crucial text in Holocaust studies that will help this history come alive for students. This course is in partnership with Central Washington University's College in the High School Program for students to earn college credit and education while in a high school setting.

My students have deeply connected with graphic novels in the past, such as Persepolis which helped them understand the human impact of the Iranian Revolution, but due to budgetary restraints, we are unable to purchase Maus from our school coffers.
