Holiday Help

Help me give my students clothing for our care closet and angel tree families and snacks for our snack bin.

My Project

Three years ago, I added a snack bin to my classroom. Kids could take food as they needed it, but the focus was on need. I don't want my kids to have food insecurity, so I want it available if they get hungry. Their mental health is important, and food helps them focus and learn if they are hungry.

This year we have many families asking for help with clothes and essentials for the holiday season and we could use some more help gathering these items.

My kids seemed to do better when I had items available for them during class so the snacks will help us keep that going during the year. All the snacks are for my bin/store. The clothes and other asked for essentials helps our kids and their families stay warm and cared for during the holiday season and provide items kids may need and love as a surprise. The overall mental health of our students depends on them being safe and warm and cared for. We want to make sure they are so we get these items to supplement what our staff and families can't afford to give over the holiday season. We do our part as well, but we do like to use DonorsChoose as another source of help. These clothes are like our care closet clothes. Much needed by our student body and their families. We need to help take care of them so they can be ready to learn. With benefits being cut or jobs being lost, this is a tough season for many of my middle schoolers. Thank you for helping me sustain a snack basket that helps with their nutrition during the school year.
