Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I have wonderful students who love to learn. They are amazing kids who like to be active in the classroom. Our classroom could greatly benefit from tools and materials to help them stay focused and on task throughout the school day.

My second graders are in an urban district and in high poverty.

They don't all get much support at home and most come to second grade below grade level in reading and math. Many have a difficult time paying attention and staying on task. It is my job as a teacher to keep them active, motivated, and having fun while learning.

I am requesting the computer headphones for use on my classroom computers. Currently, we use very inexpensive headphones that usually break after a few weeks of use. These higher quality headphones will not only hold up better over time, but they will also help to reduce the background noises that cause distractions to the students working on the computers. The wobble seats are for individuals who have a hard time sitting still. These seats will allow them to "wobble" and wiggle a bit while still being in their seat and not distracting others. It will allow my active learners to wiggle a bit in order for them to stay focused on their learning.

These important tools will help my students in the classroom stay focused and be better learners.

I have had both of these items in the past and know that they will be successful. My students will appreciate them as well.
