In a Title I setting like ours, many students have limited access to books at home, so these donations have helped create a print-rich environment where reading is not only possible but exciting.\r\nBecause of these books, my students are reading more often and with greater confidence. They now have access to texts that match their individual reading levels, which allows them to practice skills at their own pace and experience success. I've seen students who once struggled to engage with reading begin to eagerly pick up books, participate in discussions, and even ask to take books home to share with their families.\r\nThe variety of books has also made a difference. With culturally relevant stories and diverse characters, my students are able to see themselves reflected in what they read. This has helped build their confidence, identity, and connection to learning. At the same time, they are being introduced to new perspectives and experiences, which supports both comprehension and empathy.\r\nIn addition, the books have strengthened our instruction. We use them for small group reading, partner work, and writing activities. They have supported our focus on fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension, helping students grow academically across all subjects.\r\nMost importantly, these donated books have helped foster a love of reading. My classroom has become a place where books are valued, curiosity is encouraged, and students feel proud of their progress. This impact goes far beyond academics—it is helping to shape lifelong readers and learners.","fullyFundedDate":1777485281354,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-classroom-library-that-inspir/10148086/","projectTitle":"Building a Classroom Library That Inspires Young Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dean","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9508682_orig.jpg?crop=400,400,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752090937164","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9508682"},{"teacherId":9508682,"projectId":10078423,"letterContent":"I am so grateful for your incredible donation of VR headsets to our classroom. Through virtual reality, they have explored oceans, walked through historical landmarks, and observed places and concepts that once felt far away and out of reach. For many of my students, who may not have the opportunity to travel, this has been a life-changing experience. You have opened doors to the world right from our classroom.\r\nThe level of engagement has been amazing. Students who sometimes struggle to stay focused are now eager, attentive, and excited to participate. They ask thoughtful questions, make deeper connections, and retain what they learn in a more meaningful way. I have seen students light up with curiosity and wonder as they experience lessons in a way that feels real and unforgettable.\r\nBeyond academics, the VR headsets have helped build confidence and spark imagination. Instead of just reading about life cycles, they are now reading with purpose because they can see those changes happening right in front of them.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who typically need extra support or encouragement are especially enjoying this project. The addition of our 3D printer has made learning more hands-on, meaningful, and exciting for my students. Instead of only seeing concepts in books or on screens, they can now design, create, test, and improve real objects. This has strengthened their problem-solving skills, creativity, and persistence in a way that traditional lessons alone could not.\r\n\r\nThe technology is helping my students learn by turning abstract concepts into something they can physically hold and explore. For example, when we talk about shapes, engineering, or measurement, students can design objects and immediately see how their ideas work in real time. It also encourages collaboration—students often work together to plan, troubleshoot, and redesign their projects, building communication and teamwork skills along the way.\r\n\r\nThe Inventors Hub has created a powerful shift in our classroom: students now see themselves as engineers, designers, and problem-solvers. Our classroom was transformed into our very own \"Polar Express,\" where students engaged in read-alouds, writing activities, and hands-on projects that connected directly to the story. From practicing reading skills to making real-world connections about belief, kindness, and giving, these resources allowed every student to be fully engaged.\r\n\r\nA standout classroom project was when students created their own \"tickets\" and wrote about where they would travel if they could board the Polar Express. We will also begin working on short presentations where students will share their stories and reflect on the lessons they learned about believing in themselves and showing kindness to others.
