My Project

We are starting a new reading challenge program at our school that will last throughout the rest of our school year, as well as throughout the summer months when school is not in session. Students will create reading goals and complete reading challenges each month. They will earn digital badges, but I wanted to give students the opportunity to earn small, tangible prizes, as well.

By setting reading goals for themselves students are taking ownership of their own learning and education.

Holding students accountable for reading goals and challenges will help students develop a deeper love for reading and create lifelong readers.

I have requested small prizes such as peanut-free candy, bookmarks, necklaces, bracelets, and waterproof stickers. I chose things that will appeal to the students and help them attain their goals as they "keep their eyes on the prize!"

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
