My students are amazing! Most of them have been at the school since kindergarten, and our school is special because we can really develop a close relationship with each individual student as they grow up.
As a school with a bilingual program, students are immersed in rigorous instruction in both English and Spanish!
There are numerous benefits to being bilingual and students work very hard to access the curriculum despite it being a challenge. We have both Spanish-dominant and English-dominant speakers, which means that 100% of our students are second language learners!
My students come from all different walks of life. My classroom is diverse and that is one of the things that I love most about it. My goal is to prepare all of my students to be more conscious of their identity and the history behind how they got to be where they are in this moment in time.
These materials will help students learn and organize their ideas about the history of the Americas.
Open veins of Latin America is also an authentic text written by an Uruguayan author, Eduardo Galeano. In a dual-language program, it is imperative to expose students to authentic authors from Latin America.
