This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are curious about the world around them and the stories that shaped it. They lean in when we read historical letters, study old photos, or examine artwork that reveals a different time. But it’s hard for everyone to see and engage when I can’t display those materials clearly for the whole class. A document camera will let me project primary sources, model critical reading skills, and do read-alouds where every student can follow along and feel included in the moment.

The document camera will help my students see themselves in history — and see history in a new light.

With it, I can show how to annotate, question, and analyze, helping them build confidence in understanding complex texts and visuals. It will make learning more interactive and personal, giving students the chance to connect what they see to who they are. From highlighting key passages to showcasing student work, this simple tool will help every learner feel seen, engaged, and inspired to think critically about the past and present.
