Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title I school. My students get free breakfast and lunch. My school is over 90% Hispanic, and many of my students' families work in agriculture, or they commute long distances to the Bay Area for work. I teach 7-8th social studies, so I teach about 150 students. I aim to show them the world through social studies, and they get so excited learning about what is possible in both the past and present.

I love teaching middle school because my students are so curious about everything (and are still quirky and cute).

With your help, I can show them the world and lives of people in books and other resources.

My Project

My students are budding scholars. They need the basic supplies to be successful in school. From highlighters to pencils, they will be able to do their assignments. In addition, I offer incentives in my class using PBIS Rewards Hawk Bucks. Students earn Hawk Bucks for demonstrating Hawk PRIDE (personal responsibility, respect, integrity, determination and empowerment). With the kawaii squishies and retractable pens, they will be rewarded for their demonstration of hawk PRIDE. Also, the books and replica of the Constitution will serve as great teaching aides. Lastly, the computer charger will really help students who forget their charger at home so they can complete online assignments. Thank you!
