Help me give my students the items needed to help them succeed. They usually come to class with no notebook, folder, paper, or writing utensil. The bright paper helps with them not losing their do now sheets.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Baltimore City students deserve more than what they are getting. They live in a low income, trauma ridden city. Even with that, the students come to school every day and ready to learn. They are challenged everyday with rigorous work and step up to the plate every time.
I got lucky with my students this year and have an amazing relationship with them.
I am always happy to come to work and see their faces. I try to make a safe place for my students to come to because I know that their home life isn't necessarily ideal.
My Project
They come to school without the basics. The students show up with no paper, no notebook, no pens or pencils. Basically, they just show up with their self. They need help getting the basic necessities. My students come from low income backgrounds. They cannot afford a lot of what they need for school.
I want them to be able to succeed in my class.
They need to be able to complete their assignments. A lot of times, they won't do their work because they have nothing to do it with. Purchasing these items out of pocket has become extremely expensive.
