My Students

Students are having difficulty with self-regulation and social skills. It is entirely possible that they have never been given guidance in these areas. The books I am requesting are excellent guides to help teens make wise decisions and how to think about problems.

They attend a school in Hillsborough County, Florida (Tampa).

Many are on the free lunch program. Many have parents who are too busy trying to make a living to give a lot of guidance. I can tell because when I contact them about low grades, hardly any even acknowledge my concern.

My Project

My students need help with self regulation and learning how to approach problems with objectivity and maturity. This book is excellent for teens!

I have read it from cover to cover.

I used it with a different group of students in the past. I have given a copy to my own daughter. It has an accompanying workbook, too, if anyone is feeling particularly generous.The book was written when the author was himself a teen, so he knows what he is talking about and he strikes just the right tone to appeal to other teens. He doesn't talk down to them.
