French 1 students are usually very enthusiastic. But, by the 5th list of vocabulary that needs to be learned, that enthusiasm can begin to wane. The computer can train my marginal students how to quickly learn vocabulary. Some of them have never been in a classroom where they actually have to memorize large quantities of materials. The computer can teach them to do that work quickly and efficiently. It saves grades. As for the chairs, it gives the students a way to wiggle that isn't disruptive. I have a hyperactive student or two in almost every class. These chairs are supposed to force the student to wiggle to maintain their equilibrium which frees up their mind to concentrate on the work. I don't totally understand how it works, but other teachers swear by them.
