I teach in a rural community elementary school in northeast Florida. I have an amazing group of students. They all bring different strengths to our classroom. We treat our class as a family. The goal of my classroom is to meet every student where they are and help them grow both academically and socially.
Our county has a 21.4% poverty level.
Our school currently has about 1,200 students. Being a rural community, we only have one elementary school that serves the entire county.
My Project
I love to provide my students with flexible seating options. This project would allow for a high top table in the rear of the classroom that students can sit at to work, but still be able to view the board. With nearly 30 students in the classroom, it is hard for all students to have a good view of the board. If we were to incorporate a high top table and chairs in the back of the classroom, students would be able to still have a great view of the board, with other students heads not in the way. I would love to continue to incorporate other items to allow students to have options of where they sit to maximize their learning.
