My Students

We are now in the second year of our school, and our students are from communities all over the county. Some come from home schools, high poverty areas, and rural towns. Because of the various backgrounds, we are working hard to ensure equitable access to resources.

We are pulling together with our community to create a brand new school!

These students and their families are stepping out of established schools with fully-furnished classrooms to attend the STEM school. With the help of donors, we are forging ahead to create new traditions and build an innovative educational environment!

My Project

This year we opened the Middle Grades section of the Discovery Zone with books and materials at appropriate reading levels for our older grade levels. But within this space we have limited seating options. Most of the seating best accommodates our younger K-5 students and is uncomfortable for our older students.

These table sets are the beginning of creating a teen area for our 6th-8th grade students in a school traditionally built as an elementary school.

We want them to have a place to sit and work or read that is both comfortable and age appropriate.

Having a space that is open to all age groups and classes creates a design challenge that is cohesive and functional. This is the second project as part of our overall play for this space.
