High School Students/Future Teachers Need Supplies
My students need lesson plan books and supplies for their field experience when they go into the elementary schools to practice teaching in their Teacher Academy class.
My students are excited. They are excited to be able to go out into the world and apply the teaching strategies they have learned about in my class to their clinical classrooms. They have the desire to make a huge impact in these elementary classrooms and on the students who need them.
My students are in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade.
They aspire to be teachers, coaches, administrators, and guidance counselors. They are in my classroom four days a week learning how to become the best educator possible. One day a week they go to their clinical class where they are actually immersed into classrooms and where they serve as a Teacher Academy student teacher. They prepare for that one day each week and are learning to love it when their students learn. This helps to foster the passion teachers have and need to keep as a building block for their future studies. My school serves three high schools in our county. We have a diverse student make up and are very proud of what we have. My students take great care of their surroundings and are a humble group of teenagers who appreciate what they have.
My Project
Each Wednesday, my high school students will go to their assigned clinical class. They go into an elementary or middle school class in our district and practice "teaching" under the direction of a certified teacher. These materials would travel with them in the form of educational games or activities. For example, they would use their lesson plan books to record daily lessons, needed materials, notes, and evaluations. They would also use the paper, glue, and art supplies as materials that would be used with instructional games and activities that they (my students) would create for their assigned classroom. They would also use their lesson plan book to keep up with much needed lessons, curriculum, objectives, and records to better help with organization. The red file folders will be used by my students as organizational tools for their clinical teachers, to keep files organized to enhance student learning.
My students lives would be changed for the better because they would have the materials needed to create the educational games or lessons they would like to use in their classroom.
Often teachers have ideas that never come to life simply because they don't have the material. As their teacher, I want to help provide the material so they can focus on creating valid lessons which support the curriculum. The poster board, post its, glue, and plan books will be used to change lives!
