My high risk 17 to 21 year old students hate school. They are at risk of dropping out. They have a lot on their minds due to their awful family backgrounds...rape, torture, abuse, crack addicted mothers, absent fathers, parents in jail or dead etc. etc. These students have so much noise going on in their heads they find it hard to think and be successful in school. I have found one thing that they love to do that keeps them coming back to school and working hard and that is designing fashion they can wear. They even come to school on Saturday and spend extra time after school so they can design clothes. We desperately need the proper materials for them to use to do hand painting and decorating on fabric. Doing design on clothing keeps them doing their other studies so they can graduate from H.S. and be successful citizens. Textile paints, markers, silk scarves, dyes, rhinestones, etc will keep these at risk kids off the streets and in school. Your donation would mean so much to kids that have never had anything but tragedy in their lives. Something positive and beautiful CAN turn their lives around they just need a chance.
