Our students struggle every day with horrible living situations. Poverty,drugs, shootings, homelessness, no parents, illness, hunger and death are daily struggles and tragedies they deal with. In spite of this they still want an education and come to school to learn and better themselves. They have dreams...of being a lawyer, a nurse, a teacher, a business owner. These are beautiful kids that just need the right support in order to see the beauty in themselves and the world. They are very intelligent and creative and have much to offer. They are very loving and generous. This college level class is the first ever offered in their school. To be successful they need help getting the supplies they need to do the extensive homework required to complete the course. To see them doing art work is to see them transformed to a world of peace and beauty. They are absorbed in this world for an hour a day and they don't want to leave the art room where they feel happy and successful.
