Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come to school each day eager to learn, but many face significant barriers outside the classroom. Nearly all of my students qualify for free lunch, and many live in a high-poverty community where access to books—especially high-quality Spanish books and especially in Spanish assessments for all 4 langauge domains; listening, reading, speaking, and writing

In our classroom, we are working to build strong biliterate students.

However, we currently lack access to targeted, leveled Spanish texts that meet students where they are and help them grow. Even more challenging, there are very few meaningful assessment tools in Spanish that allow us to truly understand what students can do across all four language domains: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

A subscription to Reading A–Z (Raz-Plus), with a focus on Spanish resources, would transform our classroom. It would provide:

A wide range of leveled Spanish books that support differentiated instruction

Engaging, culturally relevant texts that reflect and respect my students’ identities

Tools to design and implement meaningful assessments in all language domains

Resources to track progress and target instruction more effectively

With these materials, I will be able to create stronger, more equitable learning experiences for my students—ensuring that language is not a barrier, but a bridge to success.
