Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Watching students learn to read and watching them grow into life long readers/learners is one of the best feelings in the world!
The students at our school haven't had a real chance to be introduced to engaging fiction and non-fiction texts.
Our school is Title I, and they are not given the opportunities that a lot of other students in the area are given. Every student should have access to an updated library that is filled with high interest and engaging books!
My Project
Having access to an engaging high interest library opens the world of reading in a whole new way!
Most students are used to the normal boring books but having books that are high interest and engaging will help the students become more engaged in reading.
The students will use these books to check them out at school, so they have access to books at home to read with their families.
A lot of our families at our school do not have access to high interest books, so these books will be used at our school library. The students will come to the library and check out the books, along with going to centers at the library and using the books for literacy activities.
