Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach English Language Learners. My students are navigating middle school while learning English and adapting to a new country and culture. They are rarely celebrated since they have yet to master the language. However, they take a test called WIDA every year to measure their growth in listening, reading, writing, and speaking. This is a very challenging test and takes two full weeks to complete. Our students show amazing growth every year, but other than a pat on the back from me, it's not recognized. I have permission to use the school auditorium for an awards ceremony. I want students to be able to invite their families to watch them receive their award. So, I am asking for blank invitations I can print and send home. I am also asking for materials to create a photo backdrop since we all know parents love pictures of their kids with certificates in hand.
