Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When I enter my students classroom,and even in the hallways, I am greeted with big smiles, cheers, hugs and enthusiasm. On a daily basis I am impressed with their positive and joyful demeanors. This is especially remarkable considering that most of them are living at or near poverty.
My students are creative, smart, ambitious and full of curiosity!
They love hands-on, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box. They thrive on using their imagination and being innovative.
My Project
Creating art should be done in a welcoming environment that provides visual stimulation, the proper space to work, designated drying rack areas, and material storage. Right now they have none of this. I am 'Art on a Cart'.
The purchased Rectangular School Activity tables and Plastic Stack Stools will provide my, very deserving, students with their FIRST art room.
They have only known me wheeling into their classroom (with my cart) and working at their desks. This situation presents many drawbacks. I have to limit the mediums (painting is a logistical nightmare & their favorite) and size paper used. I want to provide them a space with no limitations!
