I am a 3rd grade teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina. I teach 42 students for math every day. Telling time is a very important skill for children to learn. Children today struggle learning to tell time on traditional clocks. It seems digital clocks are everywhere. I feel it is extremely important for children to learn to tell time the "old-fashioned" way. I am requesting several items from Lakeshore Learning to aide my students in learning to tell time. The first item is a large Judy Clock. This clock has gears that move to show the time. This clock also shows digital and analog times, with a window that closes over the digital time so students may quiz themselves with a partner. The second item is telling time practice boards. These easy-to-use flip boards help students study time to the hour and minute in a hands-on format that makes the concepts easier to grasp. Students just turn the cards over to match up digital and analog times. The third item is Individual Judy Clocks. These sturdy wooden clocks allow the whole class to have hands-on practice at the time of instruction. These clocks are great for me because I can instantly see who understands the concept and who needs more help. Thank you for your consideration in funding this proposal!
