This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students are creative, eager to learn, kind, and enthusiastic! They absolutely love reading and beg for more books to read! They also enjoy creating art and making art for projects in our class.
Many of the students in my classroom and at our school come from very low-income homes with little, if any, resources in which to complete projects assigned in class.
My students are the most gracious group for what we are able to teach them. They are truly amazing, and I am very thankful to have each new group of learners who are excited and ready to learn year after year!
My Project
We recently received a turtle as a class pet! We have named him Franklin, in honor of the storybook character "Franklin". Not only does Franklin (our pet) help to teach responsibility, he can also help our students with problem-solving.
The storybook character Franklin will provide literature for students to read to our classroom pet Franklin, which in turn will help with reading fluency.
The storybook character Franklin provides students with problems and different ways to help solve them. These books will also help to provide books to our students for our author study on Paulette Bourgeois. We can't wait to read to our class pet Franklin!
