Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My crew is a set of third-graders at our growing school on the city's east side. They are active learners who take in everything around them. This crew is pushed to reach high expectations and they excel each and every day. My crew exemplifies our habits of character: responsibility, cooperation, compassion, integrity, perseverance, curiosity and creativity through their learning and actions.

My crew is diverse in so many ways.

Our crew leaders strive to meet their diverse needs in both academic and social-emotional ways. They bring so much love and joy with them to school each day.

My Project

My crew loves being able to use technology. I would like to incorporate Osmo kits into our crew room to help them access technology in a purposeful way. At our school, we have limited technology and it is important to me that my students are technologically literate and see technology as a tool for learning.

We focus a lot on curiosity and creativity in our school and this would be one way students can explore and learn while being creative.

I also want to expose and get my crew excited about coding. This is something that is included in the resources I am requesting.
