My Junior High Baseball athletes come from a variety of backgrounds. Thirty students have reported to our pre-season meetings, the largest turnout our program has seen in recent history. Some have played summer AAU baseball and some have never played a day in their life. Many of the younger athletes have participated in our local little league for the past several years. They have been asking me all year about baseball. I’m excited to see what skills they may bring to this new season.
My Project
Your donation to this project will help our team perform with the latest catcher’s gear available on the market. Our current gear is very old and worn. The leg protectors have holes in them and are missing straps. The chest protectors are small and I fear would not adequately protect our catchers, especially if a ball were to hit them around the edges of their body. Several catcher’s masks are worn and missing interior padding, preventing the mask from staying securely in place. Some of the masks are umpire masks and do not protect the side of the face. We somehow do not have a catcher’s mitt and I do not wish to require my athletes to buy their own gear. The pitcher’s net will help our young pitchers find accuracy with their throws.
