My Project

I am a speech-language pathologist working with an incredible group of students with autism. Each of my students is unique. They are bright, curious and eager to learn when they feel safe and comfortable in their environment. Many of my students experience sensory sensitivities, especially to sound. Noises that might seem ordinary to most (like the hum of a fan, classroom chatter or school bells) can be overwhelming and distressing for them. I am requesting noise-cancelling headphones to support my students' sensory needs. These headphones will help create a calmer, more focused environment throughout their school day. They will be used during speech and language therapy sessions, classroom instruction and transitions throughout the building. By reducing the stress and distraction caused by loud or unpredictable sounds, my students can better focus on communication, learning and social interaction.

These noise-cancelling headphones can help prevent sensory overload, reduce anxiety and allow students to stay engaged in learning without shutting down or becoming overwhelmed.

With your support, my students will gain access to such a simple but POWERFUL tool that will help them regulate their sensory environment. These headphones will promote calm and focus, help students participate more comfortably in group settings, reduce stress and support emotional regulation in noisy environments and allow them to focus on communication goals without the distraction of background noise.
