As a 2nd grade teacher that loves to help my students become better readers, I'm always looking for ways to make reading interesting! There are so many different ways in how we read in our classroom, from independent reading, to partner reading, and even reading together as a class!
My students are amazing individuals that I have the pleasure of spending the day with.
Moreover, within the walls of my classroom each year, I have at least 10 different languages represented and am constantly learning about their cultures. It is an amazing environment to teach about differences because it is so evident. I truly am indebted to my students for all they teach me about life and their cultures.
My Project
If given the tools to succeed, I believe that my students will meet any goal. My students are resilient and the challenges they face in life are much more than being bored during reading time. However, we can make their life a little bit easier and learning a lot more fun by giving them the technology that will make reading interesting! I plan on giving my struggling readers more opportunities to read on these iPads to increase motivation and perseverance. Using phonics apps will also be a great way to develop their understanding of letters and sounds.
Donating to this iPad project will improve my students' reading ability, listening ability as they pay close attention to their reading, fluency, and comprehension skills.
Students will become more confident readers, more excited about reading, and be able to share with the teacher and classmates what they are reading. This project will provide them with opportunities to work together in groups or in partnerships to promote collaborative learning.
