Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Welcome to our 1st grade classroom! My class consists of about 30 students in a low income community found in the southwestern part of the United States. Our school provides 100% of our students free breakfast and lunch. My students come from families who try each day to provide the best for their kids but that struggle to make ends meet. Despite the economic hardships, students come to school with a willingness to learn, work and play.
We have future doctors, lawyers, teachers, scientists, etc.
I want to help them open their minds to all kinds of learning in order for them to be successful in their life. My students want to explore the world!
My Project
We are back in school and our class needs basic supplies to help us achieve our goals! These supplies include playground equipment (these will help my students keep active and healthy during recess), ink cartridges for our class printers, construction paper and photo paper for art projects and the pictures we'll take of them, headphones (for the ones that can't afford to bring them from home), bubbles and play dough for projects, a cart to carry our library books back and forth to the library and Lego sets to help with their STEM activities. They will help my students be better prepared for the daily learning challenges and projects required for their learning.
