I have 30 first grade students in a high poverty school in a community in Arizona. Most students come from low income families which struggle everyday to make ends meet. Some live with grandparents, some live in a one parent household. Parents/Caregivers want their children to have a better life and because of this, the students come everyday eager to learn, always with a smile on their face. This inspires me to become a better teacher and to strive to give them the best resources and supplies available for their learning. Some of those resources/supplies are not provided by our school, and parents can't help because of their financial problems. So, as a teacher, I have to find ways to provide the supplies needed for their learning.
