My Students

The students at my school are enthusiastic learners! Most students come from a traditionally underserved community. Our goal is for students to move on to middle school with the skills necessary to be successful in school leading them to college or career readiness.

Currently, our school's state assessment grade is a C -- with your help, we can change that!

These students are capable of achieving at a rate comparable their peers across the city. They just need the opportunity and resources to succeed. I can always count on my students to push themselves to do their best regardless of their circumstances.

My Project

This is a great opportunity for you to directly impact the students at HPES. By providing students and teachers with the necessary supplies, you are getting everyone in the school off to a strong start. The goal of this project is to create a "Beginning of the School Year Package" for every teacher in the school that they can use to distribute materials to the students in their classrooms.

Pencils, glues, chart paper, post-it notes, and markers are used in EVERY HP classroom EVERY day!

Pencils, glue, and markers for interactive journals that promote daily note taking, reading, and writing. Chart paper so students and teachers can work together to create anchor charts that are hung on the walls so students can refer back to them throughout the school year. Post-it notes for exit tickets that teachers can use to assess their students' understanding, as well as annotating text.

The yoga mats are for a new school-wide initiative. This year we will welcome local yoga studios to our school to lead yoga sessions for some of our most stressed and emotional students, giving them a chance to learn new coping skills and ways to relax in stressful situations at home and at school. They will need yoga mats in order to participate and get the most out of this opportunity.

We would also like to help students get off to a great start by providing uniform shirts for those who may not be able to afford their own. HP requires students to wear a simple uniform in order to create an atmosphere focused on learning. Unfortunately, many students at our school struggle to come every day in a clean and correct uniform.
