Helping Children Learn Science Amid a Pandemic Filled World.

Help me give my students a chance to go outside and increase their scientific knowledge through hands on learning. We will use the weather station and tissue paper as we venture through our learning.

My Students

I work hard to give my students a hands-on learning experience where we can collaborate and grow together. I work hard to create an atmosphere where students can experience math and science in a way that is rewarding and fun. Because I am able to work with students for two consecutive years, I feel I get to know personalities and learning types, giving my students the opportunity to grow and develop in some of the most influential years.

Coronavirus has had a big impact on our learning for the last two years.

I am looking forward to a post coronavirus learning atmosphere, and getting back to hands on fun and exceptional learning.

As a math and science teacher, I have been blessed to work with students from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. My students are truly amazing! We are off to a great start for the 2021-2022 school year.

My Project

This year, I will be teaching 6th grade students Math and Science. During the school year, we are learning all about weather patterns and weather cycles. The weather station alone will provide students a chance to learn how the world around us works and how mother nature affects our everyday living.

These last 2 teaching years have been difficult with Coronavirus and the effects it is having on our students lives.

Students are struggling to have a positive outlook for our future, I believe I can help my students generate an excitement for life through simple learning. I want to bring a little more fun into the classroom and help our students get excited about learning, even in a pandemic filled year. Science and Math can be fun and rewarding if we are able to present ideas and have fun along the way.

Some of the other supplies in this project will help us build and fly hot air balloons. We will use the tissue paper in class to construct and fly individual balloons.

Part of the 6th grade content is looking at ecosystems and interactions among living organisms. Other supplies in the supply list include an aquarium and tadpole food. These supplies will provide a fun hands on learning experience as we dive into the lifecycle of a frog. I believe science and discovery are great ways to challenge the way students think and can provide joy and happiness that will be long lasting. This joy and happiness is exactly what students need during these trying times of living in a pandemic filled world.

I am excited to see the joy in my students faces as we journey down this road.
